Revolutionising EVs: Introducing the World’s First ‘Superfast’ Battery with 400km Range in Just 10 Minutes

The world’s largest battery maker, Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited (CATL), has launched what it claims is the first ever “superfast charging” battery capable of delivering a range of 400 kilometers (249 miles) from just a 10-minute charge.

The battery, which is called Shenxing or “god-like movement”, is made using a new lithium-ion technology that CATL says has improved conductivity and energy density. This allows the battery to charge much faster and hold more energy than traditional lithium-ion batteries.

On a full charge, the Shenxing battery can power an electric car for over 700 kilometers (435 miles). This is significantly more than the average electric car in 2023, which has a range of around 400 kilometers.

CATL says that the Shenxing battery is still in the development stage, but it plans to start mass production in 2025. The company believes that the battery has the potential to revolutionize the electric car industry and make electric cars more mainstream.

“The future of the EV battery technology must remain steadfastly anchored at the global technology frontier, as well as the economic benefits,” said Dr Wu Kai, chief scientist at CATL.

The arrival of the world’s first “superfast” battery is a major positive development for the EV industry. It has the potential to make EVs more affordable, convenient, and accessible, which could lead to a significant increase in the adoption of EVs in the years to come.

To see how the future market of EV will change after the arrival of this battery, you can look at the following factors:

  • The price of the battery. If the battery is affordable, it will make EVs more competitive with gasoline-powered vehicles.
  • The performance of the battery. If the battery can offer a long range and fast charging times, it will make EVs more appealing to consumers.
  • The availability of the battery. If the battery is widely available, it will make it easier for automakers to produce EVs.
  • The demand for EVs. If the demand for EVs is high, it will create a market for the battery.

The future market of EV is still uncertain, but the arrival of this battery is a major positive development that could accelerate the adoption of EVs.
